Condor Pack Golock
« on: June 07, 2012, 05:02:00 PM »
Just received in the mail todayCondors Pack Golock. I'll post a pic as soon as the sun comes out down here in Florida. Could have came a little sharper but not bad. The leather sheath seams pretty good for the cost. Although I would rather have or will make a sheath that I can pull out with out all the retaining straps. I have big hands and the handle is almost to big so there are a few things that will need adjusting. But over all for the price its hard to complain. I'm going to use this and see how I like this style chopper and what I might want to change so I can someone build me one to my specs. Pics and report to come as soon as the weather clears!!!! :chopwood:

Happy for ya! ALWAYS a good day when a knife comes in the mail!

I do hope your experience with the name "Condor" is better than mine! :)

I've been looking at the Pack Golok myself.  And the Heavy Kukri.  And the Warlock Machete.  I'll likely end-up with all three at some point, knowing me. LOL  But I like the golok a little more.  Sharpen it and chop some stuff so we can see what it does.
Is there such a thing as too many knives?

Interested to see some action shots! The weather is perfect right now for pictures (Orlando), with some overcast skies to diffuse the light and cool it off out there.
What's that smell?

So here are a few pics of the Pack Golock. It chops well with the weighted front end. Feels good in the hand, I did not notice any problem with vibration while chopping on dried oak wood. Processed some kindling and did it like a breeze. This Friday I'm going to take it out with me and use it some more and give a better report.

That thing looks awesome. How thick is it? I've seen some conflicting specs on the web. It kinda looks like a short bolo machete on steroids.

it reminds me a bit of the chris cane suvival tool
sure wish they didn't put those useless pock marks in the blade though, just gives rust a home.

That right there is what sent my HB back to the retailer from whence it came: stupid fake forge hammer marks!  It made my HB look stupid. Mine also had grind marks across the blade (just about where the blade's edge got sharpened) where this stupid finish started and about an inch (or less) of 'normal' blade came outta the handle.

And it wasn't that dimpled blade thing on the website when I ordered it.  Huh.  It sure is now.   :-\

I see from these pics that your's, Swamphanger, does not have the same thing, and your blade looks very good.  At least the faux finish goes right up to the handle.  Nice looking blade.

Well for the price they are a good beater. And yes it's pretty thick as for the marks they don't bother me because I'm framing on things with it. Besides I'm learning what I want with it and gonna have someone build one my boys fight over later. ;)

greyhound352 if your not in a hurry you can use this one at the next get together. I plan on not missing it shy of nuclear attack!
